Results of an experimental research of forest fuel ignition processes by a radiant thermal flux are presented in paper. It is considered two variants of influence of a radiant thermal flux - from the radiating panel and from an optical glass lens. First variant corresponds to the scenario of influence of a radiant thermal flux from an edge (front) of forest fire. As is known, radiant heat exchange is one of the basic mechanisms of heat transfer at forest fire spreading. Second scenario corresponds to ignition of forest fuel layer from the natural or anthropogenous concentrator of a solar energy. Description of experimental research technique is resulted. Ignition delay times for a typical forest fuel (pine needles) are defined. Results can be applied to development of physical and mathematical models of forest fuel and other fire-dangerous materials ignition processes.
